Day 2: whale watching and eating

Got up late and got some klieven and skyr and kaffi. Mmmmmmm.  Met morgans good friend Freyja who took us on a whale and puffin watching boat ride.  I may have been the only one who caught a pic of the only whale that wandered near the boat and stumbled into frame as I took a pic of the horizon.  Puffins were pretty cool though.

After boating Freyja took us for the most amazing hot dogs of all time at Baejarins beztu pylsur.  You're thinking "ummm, hot dogs? Really?". Yes.  Unbelievable.

After beer and window shopping downtown Reykjavik, met Freyja's boyfriend Gunnar. Real nice guy. Took us to dinner where we had traditionally smoked (A.K.A. Smoked over horse manure) trout, smoked puffin, and whale sashimi appetizers.  Felt a little odd eating the same animals we were on a tour to see in the wild 2 hours earlier. For entrees Mo opted for the fish over the traditional horse meat dish and I had a delicious seared whale steak.

Wrapped up the evening listening to a Tom Waits cover band at a bar across the street from the Center Hotel Klopp and then to a bar called Boston, of course, for last call.

Doing our best to learn Icelandic. Goda nott and takk my friends.

Tomorrow: the countryside

Below: just a pic of the cliffs surrounding Reykjavik bay.

  2. The Icelandic saga continues! But where are the pictures? I won't believe you are really in Iceland without photographic evidence.
