Day 3: water fall 1, the great divide

Got up early and Freyja and Gunnar took us around the countryside.
First stop: pingvalla. The place where the first parliament ever was
established in 930. Also, coincidentally where the tetonic plates
between Europe and N America meet. They are separating at the rate of
about 2 cm per year creating a fissure that is splitting Iceland.

Below: a picture of the waterfall that feeds the pool where executions
were performed in 13th century. "Men shall be hanged, women shall be
drowned"
